Raising an Obelisk
1. Read the information, "The Obelisks of Egypt," (below and
HERE
)
2. Fill out the Graphic Organizer
3. Use the sidewalk chalk as the obelisk
4. Use any or all of the other supplies as simple machines
5. Collaboratively determine a way to raise the obelisk from a horizontal to a vertical position, using the simple machines provided
6. Be prepared to explain the method used to raise the obelisk through your collaborative efforts
7. Decide who will be your obelisk expert (write their name on your folder)
8. Video record your obelisk explanation

9. Clean-up (all station 4 materials are put away and ready for next class)
10. Do your group self-assessment (on back of the GO) and ALL group members sign off
11. Turn in your folder
