Dear Past SeaPerch Coaches,

The National SeaPerch Organization has released a bit more information regarding the new Finesse Challenge, which consists of three tasks: The Targets, The Pipes, and The Ladder. Please take a moment to look over these tasks (link below) if you are again associated with a SeaPerch team(s). The instructions for The Targets and The Pipes are still relatively unclear, however the ladder design is pretty straightforward. A scoring rubric has also been included.

We are currently working diligently to begin preparations for our April 25th event. If you have any questions, I will do my best to help you out as much as I can. Concerning the designs of the Finesse tasks, however, you now know as much as I do. Please remember that registration will take place on February 9-13 at the following link. Three teams from each school are eligible to compete. Additional teams will be placed on a wait-list. The capacity for the USI Regional is sixty (60) teams.

Ultimately, the responsibility of compliance falls squarely on the shoulders of the coach, so please take the time to read the rules.
The Heist

The Heist Challenge has been released online. You can see the image to the right. All of the details have been released online. The basics are that there is a door that has a simple latch that the ROV will have to open and retrieve boxes that have various weights. These boxes will have to be placed in a certain area near the wall of the pool. More information is still to come as to specific rules and measurements. We will keep you informed.

Competitions
There will not be a poster competition at the Indiana SeaPerch Challenge this year. However, we do encourage your team to create a poster and display them on your table in the pit room. Our plan is to have professionals discuss the team’s work with them throughout scheduled portions of the day. This discussion will not affect the final score of the team in any fashion. It is simply a chance for student’s to practice communicating their ideas with others. We hope to offer the SeaPerch sprint for the middle school competition. This will not affect the overall scores. It is simply a fun event. When you register, your team will be asked to sign up in one of the following classes:
  1. 1. Middle School Stock ROV
  2. 2. High School Stock ROV
  3. 3. Open Class (this will include middle schools competing against high schools)
